About Berry Heating and Cooling

A family business built on experience, faith, and hometown care.

Berry Heating and Cooling was founded by John Berry and is run alongside his wife Whitney — a local family bringing 21+ years of real HVAC experience to East Texas and Northwest Louisiana homes and businesses.

Meet John Berry

John Berry is a trade-school graduate from Shreveport, Louisiana, with 21+ years of hands-on HVAC experience. He spent his first decade working residential and commercial HVAC projects throughout the South, building a foundation in practical diagnostics and honest customer communication.

John then spent a decade in Kansas City, Missouri, managing larger-scale commercial projects — rooftop units, complex multi-zone systems, and light-commercial installations that required both technical depth and project coordination. That experience is what he means when he says big city experience.

In 2024, John moved his family to Gary, Texas — the home base of Berry Heating and Cooling at 1590 County Road 125. Shreveport is John's hometown, and Carthage is Whitney's hometown. Putting down roots in Gary was the foundation for Berry Heating and Cooling: a company built on faith, family, and a commitment to treating every customer the way they would want their own family treated.

When you call Berry Heating and Cooling, John takes that trust seriously. You will get honest answers about what your system needs, clear pricing before any work begins, and dependable follow-through from someone who genuinely cares about the outcome.

Meet Whitney Berry

Whitney Berry is the organizational backbone of Berry Heating and Cooling. As co-owner and office manager, she handles scheduling, customer communication, and the day-to-day coordination that keeps the business running smoothly.

Carthage is Whitney's hometown — she grew up here, and her family has deep roots in the community. That connection is part of why Berry Heating and Cooling feels different from a larger regional company: this is home, and the Berrys are invested in it.

When you call the office, you are likely talking to Whitney. She will make sure your appointment is scheduled correctly, your questions get answered, and that John has everything he needs to show up prepared.

What you can expect from every visit

Honest diagnosis

We explain what we find in plain language and recommend practical solutions based on your system, comfort needs, and budget — not what generates the biggest ticket.

Clear pricing before work begins

You will know what a repair costs before we start. No surprises, no pressure — just a clear explanation of the options and your approval before anything happens.

Respect for your home

We treat your home the way we would want ours treated. That means showing up on time, communicating clearly, and leaving the space the way we found it.

"They conducted a thorough inspection of the HVAC system that had been recently installed, and they quickly identified several issues that I was completely unaware of. What impressed me the most was their commitment to customer care. Instead of simply trying to sell me on their services, they took the time to explain the problems they found and recommended that I reach out to the original installation company to give them a chance to make the necessary repairs. This level of integrity and honesty is rare in the industry."
